EXHIBITION PROGRAM 2025: METANOIA

By using the ancient greek word 'metanoia' – understood as a term that expresses a fundamental change of one's mind – as the inspiration for our 2025 exhibition program, we aim to collect and counterpose a range of artistic projects, discourses, concepts and point of views, and to find hidden lines of continuity and tension between them while speculatively producing new ways of thinking and relating.

'Metanoia' spans over a complex of concepts that closely align with this year's programme: fear and fascination of death, extinction of species, the limitations of the planet and the imminent collapse of the climate – but also stories of life and revival, earthly and cosmological systems, the passage of time and its speculative dimensions.

The program contains a group exhibition with the three Danish artists Silas Inoue, Mette Rasmussen and Nichy Sparre-Ulrich and the three Portuguese artists Adriana João, Di Lança Branco and Bruno Silva – which, later this year, will also be shown at the exhibition space SALTO in Lisbon. We will also present a performance program for Folkemødet on Bornholm, a solo exhibition with Tore Hallas and a duo exhibition with Kirsten Ortwed and Nina Beier. During the year we will also organize artist talks, concerts, guided tours and screenings, in collaboration with other cultural institutions from the island.

The program is curated by artistic director of SOL, Sofie Amalie Andersen, together with curator David Revés who is also co-director of the exhibition space SALTO in Lisbon. The program is supported by the Danish Art Foundation, New Carlsberg Foundation, The Obel Family Foundation and Bornholm municipality.
